Checkatrade for Business – Product Terms
Effective from 29 April 2026
These Product Terms apply to the Checkatrade for Business Service ("Service"). They form part of the Master Service Terms.
If there is any conflict, these Product Terms take priority in relation to this Service.
1. What This Service Is
Checkatrade for Business connects Trades with Businesses who require Trade services.
Through our Platform, we facilitate:
- job coordination and booking; and
- payment enablement through a third-party payment provider.
We do not guarantee any minimum number of jobs.
2. Opportunities
From time to time, job opportunities may be made available to you through our Platform.
These may include details such as:
- the Business name;
- description of the requested services;
- location and availability; and
- the Job Value (where applicable).
Job opportunities are offered on a non-exclusive basis.
We are not obliged to present any minimum number of job opportunities. The number and type of job opportunities made available may depend on factors including account status, performance, demand levels and market conditions.
3. Pricing and Booking
Jobs are priced and arranged in accordance with How Pricing & Booking Works, which forms part of these Terms.
A job becomes a "booked job" when:
- you accept a job through the Platform at the displayed price; or
- a Business accepts your quote through the Platform.
At that point:
- a binding agreement is formed between you and the Business;
- the total price shown on the Platform (the "Job Value") becomes binding for the agreed scope of works; and
- the services to be carried out under that booked job are referred to as the "works".
4. Contract for the works
The contract for the works carried out under a booked job is between you and the Business.
Checkatrade:
- is not a party to that contract;
- does not supervise or control the works; and
- does not guarantee performance or completion.
You remain an independent business and may accept or decline any job.
5. Completion
You must, following completion of the works under a booked job:
- confirm completion through the Platform; and
- provide any evidence reasonably requested via the Platform to demonstrate that the works have been carried out.
You must do so promptly and in accordance with any requirements or timeframes notified via the Platform.
The Business may confirm completion or notify any rectification required.
We may facilitate communication regarding rectification but are not responsible for the works or their outcome.
6. Payment
Payment Methods
Payment for booked jobs (being the Job Value) may be made:
- directly by the Business to you following invoicing facilitated through the Platform; or
- through a third-party payment provider where enabled via the Platform.
Payment is made using the methods made available through the Platform.
Invoicing
Where payment is made via invoice:
- we may generate and issue invoices to the Business on your behalf, in your name, based on information recorded on the Platform; and
- the Business will pay the invoiced amount directly to you.
You remain responsible for the accuracy of invoice information and for collecting payment from the Business.
Payment provider
Where payment is made through a Payment Provider:
- payments are processed and settled to you in accordance with the Payment Provider's terms; and
- Checkatrade does not hold, receive or control funds.
No Payment Responsibility
For clarity:
- we provide the Service solely to facilitate job coordination, invoicing and payment enablement;
- we are not a party to the contract between you and the Business; and
- we have no liability or obligation in relation to payment of any Job Value or cancellation fee.
To use this Service, you must have an active payment account set up via our onboarding process, which may include identity verification and provision of payment details through our payment partner.
Where a payment is made:
- the Business makes payment using the payment methods made available through the Platform;
- the Payment Provider processes the transaction and settles funds to you in accordance with its terms;
- Checkatrade does not hold, receive or control funds forming part of the Job Value; and
- all payment processing, refunds and chargebacks are handled by the Payment Provider.
Payment will be released to you in accordance with the Payment Provider's processes, following completion as recorded on the Platform or as otherwise determined in accordance with the Platform workflows.
We may use information obtained during your payment account setup solely to enable payments in connection with the Service.
Checkatrade is not a payment service provider and does not provide payment accounts, hold funds or execute payment transactions. We rely on third-party Payment Providers to process payments in connection with the Service.
7. Fees
We charge fees for use of the Service. Details of how fees are calculated are set out in "How Pricing & Booking Works".
The applicable fee will be made clear to you before you accept a job or, where applicable, when a job is matched to you and made available through the Platform.
For jobs with a displayed price, a service fee is charged following completion of the works.
For jobs requiring a quote, you may be charged when a job is matched to you and made available through the Platform (for example, through your membership plan), whether or not you go on to win or complete the job.
Where payment of the Job Value is made (for jobs with a displayed price):
- via invoice, the service fee will be invoiced to you in accordance with the Master Service Terms; or
- through a Payment Provider, the service fee may be collected as part of the payment flow and deducted prior to settlement to you.
The Job Value is the total amount payable by the Business for the works, inclusive of VAT where applicable.
All fees are payable by you, may be subject to VAT and are non-refundable.
8. Cancellation
Cancellation of booked jobs is governed by the Checkatrade for Business Cancellation Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
The Cancellation Policy sets out when cancellation charges apply and how cancellation payments are handled.
Repeated short-notice cancellations by you may result in suspension or termination in accordance with the Master Service Terms.
9. Your Responsibilities
You must:
- respond to Business communications promptly;
- carry out the works lawfully, safely and professionally;
- ensure that the scope and pricing of each booked job are accurately reflected on the Platform;
- comply with all applicable laws and regulations; and
- comply with your tax obligations in relation to the works.
You are solely responsible for determining, reporting and paying any taxes arising from the works.
You must not represent that Checkatrade guarantees your work or acts as a party to your contract with the Business.
10. Use of the Platform
You must use the Platform in accordance with these Terms, the Master Service Terms and any applicable policies.
You must not:
- attempt to bypass the Platform in order to avoid Fees or otherwise interfere with the payment flow made available through the service for booked jobs arranged through the Platform;
- agree off-platform price changes that are not reflected on the Platform; or
- misuse the Platform in a way that may cause loss or harm to Checkatrade, a Business or another Trade.
We may monitor use of the Service to ensure compliance with these Terms.
11. Allocation of Jobs
Jobs are made available to you through the Platform, including through matching processes and other factors such as account status, performance and reviews, responsiveness, demand levels and market conditions.
Nothing in these Terms creates any obligation on us to provide a minimum volume of work.
12. Suspension, Restriction and Termination
We may suspend or restrict your access to the Service in accordance with the Master Service Terms, including where:
- you breach these Terms or any applicable policy;
- you repeatedly cancel booked jobs at short notice;
- you misuse the Platform; or
- your conduct poses risk to Businesses or to Checkatrade.
Suspension, restriction or termination may result in deactivation of your account or access to the Service in accordance with our Sanctions and Deactivation Policy.
Termination of the Service does not affect any rights or obligations arising in relation to booked jobs prior to termination.
13. Changes to the Service
We may update or modify the Service, including Platform functionality, pricing mechanisms or payment processes, from time to time.
We will provide notice of material changes where required under the Master Service Terms.
